Religious Scholars and Islamic Awakening confab enters day 2

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The second day of the Scholars and Islamic Awakening International Conference has kicked off in the Iranian capital, Tehran.Nearly 700 clerics and scholars from Muslim and non-Muslim countries are participating in the international conference to discuss major issues facing the Muslim world, including resistance against the Israeli regime and the conflict in Syria. The topics are being discussed in six expert committees.The two-day conference opened on Monday, with a speech by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.The Leader said in the opening speech that Islam now enjoys a prominent position in the world.Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the importance of defining a long-term goal for the Islamic Awakening and said, “This final objective cannot be anything less than creating a brilliant Islamic civilization.”Over the past few years, Iran has hosted several international conferences on Islamic Awakening such as ‘Islamic Awakening and Youth,’ ‘Women and the Islamic Awakening’ and ‘Muslim University Professors and Islamic Awakening.’ /129
